Poster Competition (26th and 27th May 2022)
SDM College of Physiotherapy conducted a Poster competition which was held on the 26th and 27th of May 2022 for displaying during the continuous Professional Developmental program on "Re-think Pain" which was held on 28th May 2022. The Pain, Education Poster Contest was categorized into two languages (Kannada and English). The contest focused on Pain education for various musculoskeletal conditions, Patient/Family education in painful conditions, and explaining pain through Metaphors or/ Analogies. A total of 46 students had participated in the contest and 12 entries were received for the competition. The contest was judged by Dr. Sunil M (orthopedic surgeon), Dr. Mayur (Professor, Department of Community Medicine), Dr. Girish Babu (Professor, Department of Psychiatry), and Dr. Sameer Dessai (HOD, Department of Anaesthesia). There were 2 prizes allotted in the Kannada category and 3 in English.

Re-think Pain: One Day Workshop (28th May 2022)
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Physiotherapy organized an Academic activity on 28th May 2022. Dr. Parivesh Kumar conducted this continuous professional development program on "Re-Think Pain" current evidence and advances in the area of Pain neuroscience at Ishaavaasyam Auditorium, SDM Super specialty block- Dharwad.
Dr. Parivesh Kumar is a senior clinician and head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology, working at Gippsland lakes complete health-Australia for the past 15years. The main aim of the program was to focus on the current beliefs in Pain neuroscience education, recent evidence-based practice, and Rehabilitation for pain care.
A total of 165 delegates participated in the event. All the Post and undergraduate Students, Practitioners, Researchers, and Academic staff from Dharwad, Gadag, Bagalkot, Nagpur, and Bangalore were gathered for the event. Ms. Sweta Kulkarni, Associate professor of musculoskeletal and sports, welcomed and introduced the dignitaries on the stage. The event began with lighting the lamp by DR. Niranjan Kumar vice-chancellor of SDM University, Mr. Saketh Shetty, Dr. C M Shettar - Registrar of SDM University, Dr. Sunil K M - principal of SDM college of physiotherapy, Shri Jeevandar Kumar - Pro vice-chancellor of SDM university and Resource person Dr. Parivesh Kumar at 8:30 am followed by a welcoming song by Miss. Sanjana S Chappalagavi, final year undergraduate student. Later, Miss. Devki salkar (MPT 2nd year) and Miss. Ashwini Shirahatti (MPT 2nd year) announced the names of the winners for the poster competition which was held on the 26th and 27th of May 2022. Certificates were given by the on-stage dignitaries. All the posters were beautifully displayed outside the auditorium.
The whole workshop was divided into 4 small sessions with adequate breaks in the middle. All the delegates had very interactive Q and A sessions. The workshop was perfectly held with a good amount of information, presentation, and case study discussions.
Lastly, the event concluded with the valedictory function, where Miss. Mrinalini Padaki (MPT 2nd year) and Miss. Ashwini Shirahatti (MPT 2nd year) announced the names of delegates for participation certificate distribution. The certificates were given by Dr. Parivesh Kumar - the Resource person, the guest of honour, Dr. Sanjiv Kumar - The principal of KLE institute (Belagavi), Dr. Prashant Mukkannavar - The Associate professor of SDM physiotherapy college, and Dr. Sunil K M - The Principal of SDM physiotherapy College. The valedictory function ended with a beautiful vote of thanks given by Mr. Ashwin falleiro (MPT 1st year). Lastly, the event ended at 5:00 pm with a photoshoot with the resource person.
