World Physiotherapy Day Celebrations 2025


September 5th, 2025

  • A Blood Donation Camp was organized at the Blood Bank, SDM Hospital premises. Around 40 donors generously donated blood on this special occasion.
  • A Poster Presentation Competition was conducted for UG, Intern, and PG students of SDM College of Physiotherapy. A total of 7 teams comprising 40 students participated, presenting on the theme: “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in Healthy Ageing, with a Focused Look at Preventing Frailty and Falls.”
  • An E-Poster Competition was organized for colleges across Karnataka, including Bangalore, Mangalore, and other regions. A total of 16 posters were selected for recognition.

September 6th, 2025

  • A Free Physiotherapy Camp was organized in association with Kotak Life Insurance, Dharwad. More than 50 individuals benefitted from physiotherapy screening and interventions.

  • A Walkathon was conducted from SDM College of Physiotherapy to Udaygiri, Sattur, and back to the college premises. All students, teaching, and non-teaching faculty participated to raise public awareness on the theme – “Healthy Ageing.”

September 7th, 2025

  • A Symposium was held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the topic: “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in Healthy Ageing, with a Focus on Preventing Frailty and Falls.”
    Five renowned resource persons shared their expertise:
    • Dr. Kiran Aithal
    • Dr. Arun Maiya
    • Dr. Lohit Kumbar
    • Dr. K. Satyamoorthi
    • Dr. Salima Bijapuri
    Approximately 120 delegates attended the symposium.
  • From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Dr. Arun Maiya delivered an insightful talk on NCAHP Guidelines for all undergraduate, intern, postgraduate students, and faculty members.
  • From 3:00 PM to 3:20 PM, the Prize Distribution Ceremony was conducted for winners of the Poster Competition, Reel Competition, and Essay Competition. Prizes and certificates were distributed by Dr. Arun Maiya and Dr. Sanjay Parmar, Principal, SDMCPT.
  • A Felicitation Ceremony was held to honor physiotherapists who made significant contributions to the field:

Free Physiotherapy Camp – September 9th, 2025

A Free Physiotherapy Screening & Assessment Camp was conducted at SDM Polyclinic, Hubli, focusing on Elderly Diabetic Patients. More than 40 individuals benefitted through free blood pressure and blood sugar check- ups, diabetic neuropathy screening, fall risk assessment, and physiotherapy advice.

All these events were successfully conducted through the dedicated teamwork of the Event Coordinator, Dr. Tulasi H. Kulkarni, along with the Event Incharges – Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Dr. Sweta Kulkarni, Dr. Sudhir Bhatbolan, Dr. Sangeeta Appannavar, and Dr. J. Elisha, with the continuous support of Dr. Sanjay Parmar, Principal, SDMCPT, as well as all teaching and non-teaching faculty members and students, under the guidance of an extremely supportive management.
