The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is the global voice of the diabetes community. It is a non-profit umbrella organization of more than 240 national diabetes associations in 161 countries & territories, working together to improve & empower the lives of the estimated 540 million people living with diabetes & prevent diabetes in those at risk.
The IDF, situated in Brussels, Belgium holds international congresses every two years in various countries.
We are pleased to report the successful participation of our staff Dr. Salima Bijapuri & Dr. Jyoti Jeevannavar along with 6 Post Graduates in the International Diabetes Congress, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 7th to 10th April 2025. The event brought together leading researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals & policymakers from across the globe, fostering a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange & collaboration in the field of diabetes care & research.
IDF 2025 welcomed over 6,800 registered delegates from more than 165 countries & territories, making it a truly global event. With over 130 hours of scientific sessions & more than 1,600 e-posters, the congress offered an exceptional opportunity to explore cutting-edge research in depth. Participants also earned 15.5 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®), ensuring international recognition & value.
Highlights of Participation:

Our team had the opportunity to interact with professionals from diverse backgrounds & institutions, representing a wide range of expertise in diabetes management, innovative research & public health initiatives. These interactions opened new avenues for collaborative ventures & knowledge sharing.
- Recognition of Our Work:
The work undertaken at our institute received significant appreciation from various stakeholders present at the congress. Several delegates commended the originality, impact & implementation potential of our ongoing projects. This recognition reinforced our commitment to advancing diabetes research & care.
- Faculty Poster Presentations:
Two of our faculty members, Dr Salima Bijapuri (Effectiveness Of Game Based Rehabilitation On Balance & Gait In Elderly Diabetics) & Dr. Jyoti Jeevannavar (Gestational Diabetes Mellitus-A Risk For Obstetrics Brachial Plexus), had the opportunity to present poster presentations at the congress, showcasing the innovative work being conducted at our institute. These presentations generated active interest & meaningful discussions among fellow researchers & attendees, further contributing to the visibility & recognition of our academic contributions.

The congress also served as a gateway to explore future growth prospects. Notably, our staff were introduced to multiple international institutions offering sponsored fellowships & training opportunities, aimed at capacity building, professional development & research. These opportunities are currently being reviewed for potential engagement.
